Don’t Just Be Gentle As A Man, Be A Gentleman!

Did you know that having a 'gentle nature or disposition as a man' doesn't automatically make you a 'Gentleman'?

Your being gentle could be an enabler and enhancer to becoming a Gentleman if you submit to the rudiments.

Some other words that you could confuse with being a 'Gentleman' are gentle, genteel, gentility, etc.

Let's get some clarity.

*The noun word Gentle means to have a mild, kind, or tender temperament or character. To be moderate in action, effect, or degree; not strong or violent.

*The adjective Genteel is defined by online dictionaries as, "Exaggerated or affected politeness, refinement, or respectability, a high-class."

*The noun Gentility is, "Social superiority demonstrated by polite and respectable manners, behaviour, or appearances. A quietly appealing elegance by virtue of fineness of manner and expression, etc."

But No, simply possessing these fine personal qualities still doesn't exactly make you a gentleman except you intentionally and consistently deploy them in the was you relate with people!

As I earlier said the qualities - genteel, gentle or gentility are enablers of your commitment to becoming a Gentleman.

Who Then Is Gentleman and What Does it Require?

Gentlemanliness is learnt, practiced and mastered. It isn't just a name or status, it's a committment to process of being right by the rules and doing things right.

If you care to know, a major test by which the society measures Gentlemanliness is predominantly how you treat 'women or ladies' generally, and your special 'woman or lady' in particular. You can’t be a adjudged a gentleman without being chivalrous.

Wikipedia defines being a gentleman as "Treating others, ESPECIALLY WOMEN, in a respectful manner and not taking advantage or pushing others.

Simple and optional as being a Gentleman may seem to you as a man, you need to understand that choosing to become reputed to be a Gentleman could breed trust and dependence in your person as a man.

It also opens doors to you in quarters that matter to your matter.
